Julio Romero de Torres (1874-1930) was a Spanish painter who is known for his depictions of women in traditional Andalusian dress. He was born in Córdoba, Spain, and spent most of his life there.

Romero de Torres studied painting at the School of Fine Arts in Córdoba and later in Madrid. He was influenced by the works of the Spanish Old Masters, such as Velázquez and Goya, as well as by the French Impressionists.

Some of his most famous works include "La Chiquita Piconera," "Poema Andaluz," and "La Saeta." These paintings are known for their vibrant colors, strong brushstrokes, and emotional intensity.

Many of Romero de Torres' works are held in Spanish museums, including the Prado Museum in Madrid, the Fine Arts Museum in Córdoba, and the Carmen Thyssen Museum in Málaga. His works can also be found in museums around the world, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

Romero de Torres works have sold for millions of dollars at major auction houses like Christie's and Sotheby's. In 2015, his painting "La Chiquita Piconera" sold for over $3 million at Christie's in London.
